A patient satisfaction score is a key performance indicator (KPI) that measures how satisfied a patient is with the care they receive. It’s a survey that asks patients to answer one question: Rate your satisfaction on a scale of one to five. Any responses of four or five are considered positive ratings, scores of three and under would be considered unhappy patients.
Patient satisfaction score example:
How satisfied are you with the care you received today?
This question helps measure how pleased patients are with the care they’re provided throughout their medical experience. It also offers practitioners the opportunity to follow up with those patients who are not satisfied and resolve any problems with their care.
Calculating your patient satisfaction score is straightforward and involves a simple formula. The score is calculated by taking the percentage of positive responses (those who rate their satisfaction as 4 or 5) and dividing that by the total number of responses, then multiplying by 100 to get a percentage.
(Number of positive responses / Total number of responses) x 100 = Patient satisfaction score
